Frugal Friday 4-6-2018

This week I stayed home 3 out of 7 days and worked 3 out of 4 possible days. No one called for me to sub on Wednesday and I was OK with that as I took Big Kitty to be cremated. 
This week I cooked our meals from home 6 out of 7 days. We are in use it up mode here, so there was no grocery shopping this week. 
Every evening after washing the dinner dishes, I packed my lunch and drinks for the next day and made sure my clothes were laid out for the next day.  I packed lunches and drinks all three days that I was able to work this week. 
We ate leftovers for some of the lunches on days I stayed home this week. One day we had grilled cheese sandwiches while another day we had French bread pizza. 

We did not do Easter baskets this year and did not dye any eggs. My daughter is older now and no longer participates in these Easter traditions. She is very responsible financially and would not want me to spend money on her for this. 
This week I was able to work on sewing projects 2 out of 7 days. Here is a picture of another sleep mask I made for my daughter.

This week I used a cereal box to make a pattern. This is an inexpensive alternative to using new paper or poster board to make patterns. I like to use sturdy paper for patterns I will use over and over again. 

On Tuesday we went to a couple of our favorite thrift stores. 

The only item I picked up was this Mary Engelbreit bag. The cashier said they used these for transporting dishes and it wasn't supposed to be on the sale floor, and that I could just have it, no charge. 
My daughter has already claimed it as her own because she loves reading and books. 
We have severe thunderstorms Tuesday night and afterwards it turned chilly. No need to run the air conditioner after that. We were once again able to open the house and let in some fresh air. 
I sold two things on Ebay this week and after shipping and fees ended up making $10.78. It's not much money, but over time does add up to a tidy sum. 
Free Entertainment
We continue to live without cable TV and do just fine without that added expense. My daughter let me borrow her "Pretty Little Liars" DVD set, so I've been watching that this week for free entertainment. 
In my car on my way into work I've been listening to the audio book, The Butler, which was a Christmas present from my daughter. 
We've been rotating our pantry supplies this week. My pantry was actually full a few months ago, so I started storing some canned goods in my bedroom. 
The pantry has since cleared out some, so we began moving the canned goods from the bedroom to the pantry. It's good to use up the supplies we have on hand as it saves us money from having to shop some weeks. 
As a result I emptied several food containers including a bottle of ketchup, the last of the Velveeta cheese, and the last of the white rice. I won't replace the Velveeta right now, and I have plenty of ketchup in the pantry, but I did add the rice to my grocery list.  
Free things we received this week include one bottle of water for refilling an rx and one clementine that my daughter received at school when the nursing students were passing them out.
