Manchester United( MAN U) has been described as the world's most valuable football brand despite not winning any trophies last season.
They replace Bayern Munich according to a report from Consultancy Brand Finance.
The club's brand is estimated at $2.1billion. Though there are reports of loss of fan base as a result of not wi ning any trophies, the club maintains a legion of followers in South East Asia, China and India.
Man U has lucrative shirt sponsorship deal with Chevrolet and record breaking kit supply deal with Adidas signed in 2014 and is worth 750 million pounds to Manchester United over 10 years.
The report says that 'huge windfalls that Man U can expect will see both revenues and brand value continue to increase in the coming year'.
It is reported that the club's brand value has increased by 63 percent since 2014. The report also says, 'the most critical factor in Man U's brand renewed financial potency has been this year's record breaking 5.1 billion pounds deal for the UK broadcast rights of the Premier League.
Bayern Munich is second while Real Madrid is 3rd.
