It was a much darker collection from Louise Goldin for NYFW that caught my eye. I normally associate her designs with pastels and bright colors. Saying nothing of her awful collection for Topshop, of which I wondered if anyone bought it! But this collection was perfection. It had the right level of darker colors and graphic layering to appeal to me. I must say that so far, NYFW hasn't presented me with any complete turkey collections - as I said, so far!
This must be LG' most wearable collection yet. I mean that not as an insult but because I often wonder who wears the pastel creations? I think pastels are often not a great idea for the older woman. I'm only 27 and I wont touch them with a barge pole. I think its better left to teenagers and age confused ladies in their early twenties. However, I don't think there are many teenagers out there who can afford designer gear so I wonder who buys it?
The darker shades mean that this is a really investment friendly collection. I loved the clever approach to layering and extra, somewhat simple detailing. It was nice to see a flash of print on a collar of a white shirt or a leather belt thrown onto a maxi dress. The graphic color blocking and lines are also extremely flattering on the figure as well.
