Mumbai 2014 Nov XXVIII(NAP1, Nuzhat Ansari): Ungli is about a group of friends who decide they're going to break the law to uphold the good that is being trampled in contemporary society. Abhay (Randeep Hooda) is a rather dishy crime reporter with Aaj Tak. Goti (Neil Bhoopalam) is a computer engineer and Kalim (Angad Bedi) is a mechanic.
With medical intern Maya (Kangana Ranaut) in tow, they make up the Ungli gang. The connection between them is their gym trainer, Ricky (Arunoday Singh). Ricky is seriously injured while trying to be a good samaritan on Mumbai's Carter Road and to avenge this tragedy, his sister Maya and three clients decide they're going to clean up the city.
Nikhil (Emraan hashmi) a lazy police officer is being suspended from the bomb squad department for his nasty activities. Ashok kale (Sanjay Dutt) a senior police officer comes to Nikhil’s rescue. Kale having understood Nikhil’s strange habits decides to use him to crack the Ungli gang case.
Ungli gang has a noble motive but it adopts the unlawful methods to fight corruption. The 'Ungli gang' fights corruption and rebels against the deceitful system with their moto 'it's time to show them the middle finger'.
The Ungli gang target and kidnap those persons who they feel trouble the common people and then they teach them a lesson in really unique ways which the receivers will surely remember for the rest of their life. While, one indifferent auto-rickshaw wala was exported to a different city along with his auto in a freight train, two corrupt government officials were forced to eat currency notes, kindly with pickle; all thanks to the Ungli gang.
The music of Ungli has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman, Sachin-Jigar, Gulraj Singh, Aslam keyi. The soundtrack has five tracks, which include the title track, 'Ungli Pe Nachalein', the item number Dance Basanti and Pakeeza.
'Dance Basanti' starring Shraddha Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi is a very glamorous song. The song choreographed by Bosco-Caesar is definitely a take from original Basanti, but with a modern day twist. The song is sung by Vishal Dadlani and Anushka Manchanda, composed by Sachin-Jigar with lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
'Pakeezah' the second single track picturised on Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut is sung and composed by Gulraj Singh with the lyrics of Manoj Yadav.
The film has social relevance, it raises the prominent problem of corruption, where the common man is not able to raise his voice against corrupt powers and suffers the injustice. The film somehow is successful in delivering the message of fighting for the injustice done to common man.
